About the Film
Once a year, as winter melts from the streets of Detroit, 300 of the world’s premier tattoo artists gather under one roof to honor their craft, push boundaries, and leave their mark. Alongside them, collectors arrive with their own deeply personal reasons—to remember, to transform, to heal, to laugh, and to become part of the art.
30 Years of Ink explores the space where skin becomes canvas, pain becomes ritual, and art becomes identity. Hosted by the visionary trio who grew the expo from infancy to a coveted, invitation-only phenomenon, the film moves past the hum of machines and the smell of ink to find the people who have made this ancient art form their life’s devotion.
